Cheats and Trainers in Of Ash and Steel – What You Should Know
There are no official cheat codes or god-mode in Of Ash and Steel. Unofficial trainers exist, but they carry malware and stability risks. Here’s what to know before you try them.
No Built-in Cheat Codes
Why the game doesn’t ship with cheats.
The devs intentionally excluded cheat codes. You can’t press a secret key combo for gold or infinite health— progression is designed to be earned. In launch-day FAQs, they reiterated: “There are no cheat codes in Of Ash and Steel; engage with leveling, crafting, and factions.”
Third-Party Trainers (Use Caution)
Risks before downloading anything.
Malware risk
Only consider reputable sources; many “free cheat” downloads hide viruses.
Stability
Trainers can corrupt saves or crash the game. Patches often break trainers, so a working v1.0 tool may fail after a hotfix.
The game has no anti-cheat (single-player), so you won’t get banned—but the developers do not support trainers. If you brick a save, support won’t help.
Safer Alternatives
Tweak the game without risking malware.
Mods
Balance or difficulty mods on Nexus can smooth the curve without outright cheating. Keep backups and avoid conflicting mods. See our modding guide.
Guides & builds
Optimize legitimately using the Beginner’s Guide and stance/build guide. A well-crafted build can feel like a cheat without breaking saves.
Why No Cheats?
Design intent and player experience.
The game leans into classic RPG difficulty: overcoming challenges is the point. Cheats would undermine first playthrough tension and discovery. The team prefers players to engage with crafting, factions, and exploration rather than skipping via cheats.
